Re: Vistaril in the office

Paul- You are right, I have been using promethazine gel topically with
great results- dosed just like Phenergan supp. only more "user friendly". I
don't think my nurses have inserted a Phenergan suppository in a couple of
years and they are thrilled. The preparation is usually made in a 25 mg per
ml TB syringe and can be titrated to the wt. appropriate dose. These same
compounding pharmacies have done great things with several other medications
that are absorbed topically. I have an 8 yr. old patient with autism and a
seizure disorder who is given trazadone and lorazapam topically. This has
improved this little boy's lifestyle tremendously because there isn't a
fight at every dosing time. Blood levels of these meds have been
therapeutic. Regards- Kim Burlingham, MD Winnsboro, TX
